It has been pure chaos since your departure. The city is in turmoil, with twisted ideologies of jokers spreading like poison ivy, and masked criminals growing to be the bane of our existence. Peace has become a forgotten word, replaced by the twisted ideologies that paint false as acceptable and good as terrible, all in the name of free speech. I've been lighting the bat signal for months, but alas, you are nowhere to be found.
Batman, I admire your values of justice and fairness, but I'm driven crazy by how easily chaos ensues. Why is order so elusive? Why is imbalance so readily embraced?
Last week, I encountered a man who believed he was fine with suffering, as long as it came from his kinsmen. While his ideology may sound unique, millions in Gotham share and cherish such beliefs. It bothered me so much that I fell ill with worry. I have questions, Dark Knight.
How do you illuminate the path for those born and raised in darkness? Is suffering justified if it is chosen? Is it justified if they remain indifferent to it? How do you save those who resist salvation?
Dear Batman, Gotham needs you.
I've questioned my thought pattern, wondering if I'm the twisted one for thinking everyone needs saving. Why do I believe in light without having seen it myself?
These are my 'whys,' Dark Knight. Perhaps, if you were here, you might understand or maybe not. Maybe I'm on a path to Arkham. Perhaps I'm a Joker in the making, which would mean I'm the one who needs saving.
A few weeks ago, I made a new friend. In this city, where aligning values and ideologies is a rarity, my new friend is quite flexible. I fear for her, as I've noticed some taking advantage of her open-mindedness. However, I hesitate to speak up because she has known them longer.
How do I guide her toward the light without seeming manipulative? This isn't just an issue with my friend; it plagues the entire town. They lack firm values, making them susceptible to influence.
Is this your expertise, or should I pen a special letter to Wonder Woman?
Dear Batman, Gotham needs you.
While writing this, I heard from my neighbour's radio that Gotham needs a saviour. I wholeheartedly agree, but should it be you, or could I don the cape?
If I wear a mask, does that make me a Joker, or does it make me you?
Dark Knight, please reply soon. I fear I might become twisted to believe their ideologies. The line between right and wrong is thinning, and I worry that both I and this city might be beyond saving soon.
Stay safe, Dark Knight.
Sincerely,
GCPD Commissioner James Gordon.
